What is Medcorder?
Medcorder is a free smartphone app for iOS and Android that lets patients record, transcribe, and share their medical appointments with family members and caregivers. It creates a secure chat room for each appointment where you can share recordings, transcripts, and notes.
Is Medcorder free?
Yes, Medcorder is completely free for patients to download and use on both iOS and Android devices.
Do I need my doctor's permission to record?
Medcorder prompts you to confirm that you have your physician's consent before every recording. Recording laws vary by state and country, so we recommend always asking your doctor before recording. Most physicians are supportive when patients explain they want to remember the details of their visit.
How do I share a recording with my family?
Each appointment in Medcorder has its own chat room. You can invite family members and caregivers to the room using their phone number. Once they join, they can listen to recordings, read transcripts, and participate in the conversation.
Is my medical information secure?
Yes. Medcorder uses Google Cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Access to recordings and transcripts is controlled through phone-number-based authentication with two-factor verification. Only people you explicitly invite to an appointment room can see its contents.
What happens to my recordings?
Your recordings are stored securely in the cloud so you can access them from any device. They remain available as long as you keep your account. You can delete recordings at any time.

Using the app

Can I use Medcorder for telehealth appointments?
Yes, you can use Medcorder to record telehealth or phone-based appointments. Simply start the recording on your phone while your telehealth session is in progress on another device or the same device.
How does the transcription work?
Medcorder uses advanced automatic speech recognition to transcribe your recordings. Transcripts are generated shortly after your recording ends and are available in the appointment chat room alongside the audio.
What devices are supported?
Medcorder is available for iPhone (iOS 14 and later) and Android phones (Android 8.0 and later). You can also access shared recordings and transcripts through the web at app.medcorder.com.
Can I take notes during my appointment?
Yes, Medcorder includes a notes feature that lets you jot down thoughts, questions, or key points during or after your appointment. Notes are saved in the appointment chat room and visible to everyone you have invited.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
You can create an appointment in Medcorder ahead of time and add questions you want to ask your doctor. You can also invite family members to the room beforehand so they can add their own questions.
Does Medcorder work internationally?
Medcorder is available worldwide on both the App Store and Google Play. However, recording consent laws differ by jurisdiction, so please check your local regulations and always ask your provider before recording.
Can multiple family members listen to the same recording?
Yes. When you invite family members or caregivers to an appointment room, they all have access to the recording, transcript, and notes. This is one of Medcorder's core features — keeping your entire care circle informed without playing telephone.
What if I forget to record?
You can still use Medcorder to take notes after your appointment and share them with your family in the chat room. For future visits, try setting a reminder in the app before your appointment.
